Talent Session

I've recently had the opportunity to work with a new client, Megan Kelly. Megan is an actress located here in the Twin Cities. Among many other things she is currently playing "Tina" in "Tony n'Tina's Wedding" showing at the Lowry Theatre in downtown St. Paul. In June, "Tony n'Tina's Wedding" will be moving to the Mall of America...if you haven't seen the show now is the perfect time to go check it out!

Megan came to me with the desire to freshen up her portfolio. We ended up shooting over a period of two days and spent some time in the studio and some time on location in both downtown Minneapolis and downtown Hopkins. We were all over the place and had a blast along the way! She was so fun, energetic, willing to any and everything I suggested, and so easy to take pictures of! Here are just a few from our first day. I'll be posting more in the next week as I wrap up editing the second session pictures!

Thank you to all of you!

I have been so busy with photography sessions lately and loving every moment of it! I don't believe you can be in this business and not be a people person. I recently told a friend who inquired about posting some of my work on his site, "I dabble in a little bit of everything as far as photography is concerned. I suppose I would consider myself a "Maternity, Newborn, Children’s, Family, Senior Portrait, Talent and Wedding Photographer", whew! I love taking pictures of people. I enjoy the challenge of getting to know my clients, learning what is unique about them and/or their children and capturing that. The anticipation of new parents with a little one on the way, the tiny features of a newborn, the curiosity of a 6 month old, the exuberance of a 4 year old, the love that a family shares, the independence of a graduating senior, the diversity of actors, and the glamour, simplicity and romance of a wedding...I simply can't get enough of it all!"

Business is growing as I have had the opportunity to work with clients for a second and third time and more and more referrals have contacted me as well. Thank you to all of you for telling your friends and family about Natalie Finazzo Photography! I appreciate it!

ciao! natalie

Just a few more...

Couldn't resist posting just a couple more of Chase!

Welcome Baby!

Chase and his parents came to see me at the studio this weekend. Supposedly Chase pretty much sleeps during the day but he was up for most of our session...obviously he was excited to meet his Auntie Natalie! And no, I am not his real aunt, but Karen is a Sorority Sister so I'm making myself an official auntie by default!

At only 10 days old this little one has quite the personality!

After Chase ate we wrapped him up in these adorable warm cozys. I purchased these on Etsy (only the best place to buy all things handmade!) from www.babyscozy.etsy.com. At this point he started to kinda fall in and out of sleep which allowed me to capture these great pictures of him all snuggled up.

This photo is my favorite from our session together...I had just gotten done asking Chase to give me one last great smile before our session ended and WOW(!) did he deliver!

Special Fall Mini Sessions

A fellow photographer friend of mine Christina (www.chrissiemariephotography.com) and I are putting together plans for a day of "mini sessions" this fall! We are thinking a Saturday or Sunday in either September or October...a fun park, field, lake...maybe uptown or downtown? An interesting couch, chair...think fun holiday picture/card!

More details to come soon but if you have any suggestions for the perfect location for the sessions let us know! Limited spots are going to be available so if you know you want a spot contact Christina or I!

Plan B

This past couple of weeks has been all about learning...case in point - last Saturday.

Sometimes no matter how much you prepare ahead of time and no matter how hard you try to make sure that everything goes smoothly it all just gets screwed up. I had the studio room ready to go, lights in place, backdrops and props set, my beautiful little subject in her beautiful little white dress in the perfect little spot...started snapping a few test shots and WHAMMO...nothing.

So what did I learn you might ask? I learned that you should always have a Plan B. While I wasn't able to execute the shots exactly as I had planned them in my head prior to the session, I was still able to capture the images I was going for in a different environment...in fact, truth be told...I am thrilled with the outcome!

Meet Maya! She is by far the most active 6 month old I have had the pleasure of hanging out with at the studio. She loved being on her belly and rolling all over the soft rugs and throws we have. Here are just a few of the photographs from our session!

And no worries future clients...I made a visit to the "photography store" after my session with Maya and am now equipped with all the right stuff so that this doesn't happen again!

Pet Photography

Every time I pick up my camera I swear I learn something new. Sometimes I learn about a setting I was unaware of, sometimes I discover a new trick to getting the shot just right, always learning, learning, learning. My first attempt at pet photography was no exception! Jason brought Sicily and Lucy to the studio and if you think chasing a two year old around there is hard work try chasing around two terriers who have been at home all day alone! What you might ask, were my lessons learned? Have a bowl of water on hand, a squeaky toy to get their attention and bring treats so that you can bribe, bribe, bribe them to do what you want them to!

Talent Session

Jenni and I met in college and will usually randomly run into each other at different places all around the twin cities. The unfortunate thing is that we are usually going in different directions! So when Jenni inquired with me about taking head shots for her web site we were both excited to have some catch up time!

Jenni and I talked about the session before hand and she came very prepared...with what I like to call "Talent Sessions" (as we are all talented in some way or another!) usually less is more...clean lines in the clothing, a few fun accent pieces (jewelry, scarves, hats, etc.) and then in the editing process I refine the edginess, glamor or simplicity of the images I capture. I am extremely happy with the diversity of the photographs that I got for Jenni and have posted a few of them below!

Jenni is a relator and a good at that! If your in the market or looking to sell your house look her up!

4 years old...

Mom and grandma brought Alli by the studio last weekend, in celebration of her birthday, and WOW did we have fun! Between all of the dresses mom brought, tutu's and feather boas I think we really got some great shots!
