Happy Birthday!

Today Grace turns 1 year old! Her mom and dad brought her over to the studio recently and since her birthday was right around the corner we took the opportunity to let her indulge in a little cake! Needless to say making the mess was WAY more fun than cleaning up. She was definitely a fan of the frosting...and the number one, although it wasn't edible...and until dad pulled a little piece of the actual cake off for her I don't think she even realized she could eat that part! Smart little girl...the frosting is the best part! Hope you have a great birthday Grace!

Little Miss Gwyn

Little Miss Gwyn and her family came to visit me at the studio again! It was so fun seeing how much she has grown in 3 months! Towards the end of our session she stood up, with the help of mom, and gave dad this look as if to say "I think I am actually doing this! I think I am standing up!" What a little personality!

Tomas

More Maya

Wonderfully wonderful surprise!

Jordan's mommy was the first person I had ever took maternity pictures of. Look at Jordan now! Already 6 months old and such a pleasure to hang out with! She was a little fussy towards the end of our initial appointment so I followed up a few days later at their house to finish up the session. Ella had stopped over for a little play time with Jordan and I simply couldn't resist getting a few pictures of the both of them. What a wonderfully wonderful surprise!

Meet Westin

As many of you know I do this photography thing now on a fairly regular basis (which I LOVE). Before I started really getting into this I spent much of my free time freelancing on graphic design projects including wedding invitations, paintings, logos and business identities...I'm still very busy with design work as I just finished up some wedding invitations for a bride and am now getting started on designing another poster/mailer for the Yellow Tree Theatre...and that's exactly how I happened to meet this little cutie! Meet Westin.

His parent's own the Yellow Tree Theatre. We were doing a photoshoot for one of their upcoming shows and Westin came along to supervise! (More like play with all the fun little kid chairs and beanbags we have at the studio, but that's besides the point.) The few pictures I took were completely impromptu..he was a little shy at first, but opened up when his parents told him that he should show me how big his muscles are..and WOW! I was impressed! :)



Westin's mom is pregnant with a little sister or brother on the way...I hope to see them back in the studio before (and after) the baby is born!

Plan B

This past couple of weeks has been all about learning...case in point - last Saturday.

Sometimes no matter how much you prepare ahead of time and no matter how hard you try to make sure that everything goes smoothly it all just gets screwed up. I had the studio room ready to go, lights in place, backdrops and props set, my beautiful little subject in her beautiful little white dress in the perfect little spot...started snapping a few test shots and WHAMMO...nothing.

So what did I learn you might ask? I learned that you should always have a Plan B. While I wasn't able to execute the shots exactly as I had planned them in my head prior to the session, I was still able to capture the images I was going for in a different environment...in fact, truth be told...I am thrilled with the outcome!

Meet Maya! She is by far the most active 6 month old I have had the pleasure of hanging out with at the studio. She loved being on her belly and rolling all over the soft rugs and throws we have. Here are just a few of the photographs from our session!






And no worries future clients...I made a visit to the "photography store" after my session with Maya and am now equipped with all the right stuff so that this doesn't happen again!

4 years old...

Mom and grandma brought Alli by the studio last weekend, in celebration of her birthday, and WOW did we have fun! Between all of the dresses mom brought, tutu's and feather boas I think we really got some great shots!

Mr. Personality

Nolan & his mom & dad came to the studio last weekend & WOW! Nolan is such a happy & smiley 6 month old! Love, love, love each & every one of his many expressions! & those eyes!

Goodness I have so many favorites from last weekends photoshoots of Gwyn and Hunter I'm having a hard time not posting them all! Here are just a few more...love the pastel colors in these pictures...makes me excited for Easter!

Hunter

Hunter and his parents, Andy and Nicole, came to visit me at Studio 7 this past weekend and boy did we have fun! I was a little nervous going into the shoot as sometimes little boys move so fast you can't catch them with your camera but he was such a little trooper!

I love that Andy and Nicole brought along one of Hunters golf clubs...Hunter couldn't hit the ball because we were inside the studio, so he was concentrating very hard on keeping the golf club as close to the ball as he could without touching it...the concentration on his face in this picture is priceless...one of my favorites!





Below I have posted a "before" and an "after" picture of Hunter and his parents...can you tell the difference between the photos? ...besides the color of course...




Yep! You guessed it! We realized after the shoot that Nicole accidentally left her hair binder on her wrist...so I photoshoped it out! A little tweak here and a little tweak there make all the difference in good photos (and good photographers!).

Gwyneth

I had the most wonderful opportunity to catch up with a friend from college at Studio 7 this past weekend and meet his adorable family! Here are just a few pictures of Gwyn...who happens to have the softest, beautiful white baby skin! Already 6 months old she did an excellent job of sitting up during our photoshoot but her teeth were hurting her and about an hour into it she had pretty much had enough of me! :) Here are just a few of her pictures!
